My Thoughts (Spoiler Free)
Before even starting this review I should point out that it is very loosely based off of the TV show Revenge on abc, some characters are from the TV show, and while the book doesn't give away any spoilers, I think it would help a lot if you finished the first season of the show before reading this.
I started watching Revenge about a month ago and got really into it, so the second I saw that there was a spinoff book I knew I had to read it. Unlike the TV show though, this book doesn't live up to the standards that most people expect from it.
Revenge is about a girl named Emily Thorne who seeks revenge on the people who ruined her fathers life which caused his untimely death. Schooled in Revenge, is basically the same premise as Revenge, except with a girl named Ava who lives in Napa Valley rather than the Hamptons, and her grandmother dies instead of her father. (Her father might be dead too though, I don't really know).
The writing as a whole was entertaining enough, but the storyline was just lack-luster. Honestly it was just boring. I feel like throughout the whole book nothing really happened, and when something did happen, the reasoning was just silly. Also, as a side note, I wish I could count how many times a chapter ended with the word "revenge", it was repetitive and really annoying.
This book gets a bored 2/5 stars, and I will most likely not be picking up the sequel.
